Is this safe?
Yes. This APK is built and signed by the Nalanda team from the same source code that runs this website. There are no ads, no trackers, and no account required. Everything works offline once installed.
Because the app is distributed directly (not through the Play Store yet), Android will show an "install from unknown sources" prompt the first time. That is a standard warning for any sideloaded app — it does not mean the file is unsafe. You can scan the APK with any antivirus before installing if you'd like extra peace of mind.
How to install on Android
- Tap the Android download button above and wait for the APK to finish downloading.
- Open the downloaded
Nalanda.apkfile from your notifications or Files app. - If prompted, allow your browser or file manager to install apps from this source.
- Tap Install, then open Nalanda from your home screen.
How to install on Windows
- Download the Windows ZIP above and extract it (right-click → Extract All).
- Easiest: right-click
install.ps1→ Run with PowerShell. It sideloads the app and pins it to your Start menu. - Or: double-click
Nalanda.msixbundleand press Install in the App Installer dialog. - SmartScreen may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen because the build isn't code-signed. Click More info → Run anyway — this is expected for a directly-distributed app.
